Gaza Herald – The Israel-backed Popular Forces militia in Rafah reportedly captured and handed over Adham Attaallah al-Akar, also known as Abu Bakr al-Akar, a senior Qassam Brigades commander and leader of the East Rafah Battalion, to Israeli forces, according to multiple Hebrew media reports.
A video released by the militia shows Ghassan Dheini, deputy of the late Yasser Abu Shabab, standing over Abu Bakr, publicly humiliating him and threatening Hamas. Abu Bakr appears emaciated and stripped of clothing, reflecting months of siege inside Rafah’s tunnel network following two years of fighting Israeli forces and their collaborators.
The National Gathering of Palestinian Tribes, Clans, and Families strongly condemned the arrest, labeling Dheini and his militia as criminal collaborators rejected by Palestinian society, and vowed to eradicate such acts of betrayal.
Abu Bakr al-Akar had been isolated under dire conditions for months, unable to communicate with the outside world, as the siege cut off all support and supplies. His capture marks a severe blow to the besieged resistance members who have held out against Israeli occupation forces and collaborators.
Photos circulating show Abu Bakr before the genocidal war and before the Rafah siege, highlighting the stark contrast between his former state and the conditions imposed during captivity. The newly released footage, depicting his current emaciated and humiliated state, has been withheld due to its graphic and degrading nature.
