Gaza Herald — Political consultations are continuing in Cairo regarding the future administration of the Gaza Strip, amid growing complexities surrounding the post-war phase and efforts to reshape the administrative and political landscape of the territory. These talks are taking place as Israel seeks to redirect the discussions away from their original focus.
Hamas leader Taher Al-Nounou said in televised remarks that the discussions held in Cairo were strictly limited to the administrative committee for the Gaza Strip, stressing that this was the only issue placed on the table so far, with no deliberations on broader political or security-related files.
Al-Nounou explained that Israel is attempting to shift the course of the talks from the formation of a national or administrative body to manage Gaza’s affairs toward the issue of disarmament, describing this move as an effort to strip the dialogue of its core purpose and impose an alternative agenda unrelated to Gaza’s urgent humanitarian and administrative needs.
He noted that meetings of the administrative committee are scheduled to take place in Cairo in the coming period, ahead of its entry into the Gaza Strip, as part of ongoing arrangements to activate its role on the ground and organize administrative mechanisms under the current exceptional conditions.
In a related context, Al-Nounou reaffirmed his movement’s commitment to handing over the final body located in the Gaza Strip, adding that efforts are underway to overcome the logistical and field obstacles preventing access at this stage, without providing further details.
These statements come amid continued political stagnation and differing visions regarding Gaza’s future governance. As regional mediation efforts persist, the fate of the Gaza Strip remains tied to the ability of the involved parties to establish a clear administrative and political path, free from attempts to impose new conditions that could deepen the crisis rather than resolve it.
