Gaza Herald- As Gaza’s humanitarian situation spirals further into crisis, the United Nations has sounded the alarm over Israel’s ongoing obstruction of life-saving aid and equipment.
Despite the fragile ceasefire, essential supplies, including those needed for basic power and shelter, remain blocked at the border, worsening conditions for over a million displaced Palestinians.
Speaking during the daily press briefing, Dujarric said that essential equipment, particularly that related to energy provision, remains blocked from entering Gaza. He noted that UN humanitarian partners were only able to deliver secure communications equipment that had been held at the border since August 2024, pending prolonged Israeli approval.
He stressed that tents are not a sustainable shelter solution for displaced Gazans, offering only temporary protection. Dujarric called for urgent moves toward more durable solutions, including the repair of damaged homes.
The UN also highlighted the lack of safe land for relocation, particularly in areas less prone to flooding, warning that over one million people in Gaza remain in dire need of emergency shelter.
Th UN remarks come as Israel continues to limit humanitarian aid access, months into a ceasefire agreement, worsening the already devastating conditions caused by war, widespread displacement, and shortages of basic needs, including food, power, and water.
