Gaza Herald- Israeli military forces continued a pattern of sustained ceasefire violations on Saturday, launching airstrikes, artillery fire, and live gunfire across multiple eastern areas of the Gaza Strip, further undermining the truce and resulting in at least one fatality.
Medical officials reported that Haroun Nimer Asaad Bahar, a young man from Gaza City, was shot and killed by Israeli forces near the Shujaiya neighborhood, an area that has repeatedly come under fire despite the ceasefire agreement.
The killing followed a series of coordinated attacks throughout the day. Israeli warplanes struck eastern Khan Younis multiple times, while helicopters and armored units fired on residential outskirts. Additional airstrikes were reported east of Deir al-Balah and in eastern Gaza City, indicating a broad geographic scope of military operations.
Along Gaza’s southern coastline, Israeli naval vessels opened sustained fire toward the sea off Rafah, as airstrikes and ground fire targeted areas north of the city. Witnesses described a heavy military presence and continuous firing from Israeli vehicles.
The escalation continued overnight in northern Gaza, where an Israeli drone dropped an explosive device on a tent sheltering displaced families in the al-Atatra area of Beit Lahia. Four civilians, including a woman and two children, were critically injured before Israeli artillery shelled the area again.
These incidents form part of a wider pattern since the ceasefire took effect in October. Palestinian health authorities say Israeli violations have led to hundreds of deaths and nearly a thousand injuries, raising serious questions about the viability of the truce and the safety of civilians living outside declared Israeli military zones.
