Gaza Herald – Israeli occupation forces killed at least two Palestinians in al-Shujayea neighborhood of Gaza City, continuing a pattern of ceasefire violations and deadly attacks on the besieged territory. The fatalities bring the total reported killed over the past 24 hours in Gaza to 12, including eight recovered from rubble after Israeli bombardments.
The Gaza Government Media Office condemned Israel’s “serious and systematic violations” of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire, which has been breached 875 times since it began on October 10. Violations included air and artillery strikes, unlawful demolitions of homes and civilian infrastructure, and at least 265 incidents of Israeli troops firing on civilians. Since the truce, 411 Palestinians were killed and 1,112 were injured.
Humanitarian conditions deteriorated further as hundreds of thousands of displaced families struggled with shortages of food, medicine, and shelter. Winter storms compounded the crisis, while Israel allowed only 17,819 trucks into Gaza out of the 43,800 promised, far below the 600 trucks per day stipulated in the ceasefire agreement.
UN officials stressed the urgent need to lift restrictions on aid deliveries, including tents, blankets, and winter clothing, noting that roughly 3,500 families remain in flood-prone areas. Humanitarian partners continue to try to provide safe and dignified shelter for 1.3 million people, but needs remain overwhelming amid ongoing violence.
The two-year Israeli bombardment left Gaza’s healthcare system in ruins, damaging at least 125 facilities including 34 hospitals. The death toll since October 2023 reached 70,937 Palestinians, mostly women and children, with 171,192 injured, illustrating the lasting impact of Israel’s genocidal assault on civilians and essential services.
