Hamas Issues Urgent Warning: Gaza’s Humanitarian Crisis Deepens with Every Building Collapse

Gaza Herald _Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem warned that the ongoing collapse of residential buildings previously damaged by Israeli bombardment is further endangering civilians in Gaza and worsening the already dire humanitarian situation across the besieged enclave.

In a press statement issued Sunday, Qassem said that families are being killed as weakened structures continue to give way, a situation aggravated by Israel’s tightened siege, its obstruction of reconstruction efforts, and its refusal to allow sufficient shelter materials into Gaza.

He emphasized that Israel’s daily violations, including the killing of civilians, such as those reported earlier in the Shuja’iyya neighbourhood, represent a clear continuation of breaches of the ceasefire agreement and significantly escalate the risks facing Gaza’s population.

Qassem noted that these violations are taking place while discussions are underway about stabilizing the ceasefire and moving toward the second phase of the agreement aimed at ending the war, describing Israel’s actions as evidence of its determination to prolong aggression against the Palestinian people.

He called on mediators to take decisive steps to halt Israel’s violations and exert real pressure to initiate a serious and comprehensive reconstruction process in Gaza. Without such action, he warned, civilians will continue to die, whether from collapsing bombed buildings, flooded displacement tents, or exposure to extreme cold amid the absence of heating and basic necessities.
