Gaza Herald – A Palestinian detainee office said Israel is keeping 32 prisoners from Gaza behind bars despite their completing their legal sentences, calling the practice unlawful detention that violates international law.
Some of the prisoners finished their terms months or even years ago, yet were neither released nor presented to any judicial body, leaving families without information about their condition.
Rights groups warn that the policy amounts to collective punishment and breaches Article 132 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which requires the immediate release of detainees once their sentences end.
International organizations and legal bodies are being urged to intervene, document the cases, and push for the prisoners’ immediate release.
