Gaza Herald – Two buses carrying Palestinian patients from Gaza arrived at the Kerem Abu Salem crossing today after Israeli authorities forcibly deported them from hospitals in Jerusalem at dawn.
Among those expelled are cancer patients, children, and critical cases who were evacuated before the war, now sent back under military escort to a devastated and unsafe Gaza with no medical guarantees.
Gaza’s health system has nearly collapsed after two years of genocide, 94% of hospitals have been damaged or destroyed, according to the World Health Organization. More than 36 hospitals are entirely or partially out of service. Thousands receive treatment in tents or on bare floors without electricity, intensive-care beds, sterilization tools, or life-saving medicines. Doctors warn that returning patients to Gaza is effectively a death sentence.
Meanwhile, more than 10,000 patients inside Gaza, including cancer patients, kidney-failure cases, children with congenital heart disease, and people with severe injuries, are awaiting medical referrals abroad but remain trapped due to the closure of Rafah and Erez crossings. Many have already died waiting, and others face the same fate as Israel continues to block medical evacuations.
