Gaza Herald – The Gaza Municipality reports that 85% of Gaza City’s infrastructure has been destroyed in the ongoing Israeli genocide, including roads, water networks, schools, hospitals, and public facilities. More than 70 million tons of rubble bury entire neighborhoods, while only one functioning bulldozer remains to clear it.
Officials say over 260,000 tons of uncollected waste now fill streets and temporary dumpsites, creating severe health and environmental hazards that threaten disease outbreaks across the city. Emergency cleanup and rehabilitation plans are being drafted, but resources are nearly nonexistent.
The municipality stressed that the permanent reopening of border crossings is the first and most urgent step toward recovery, noting that reconstruction, rubble removal, and restoring essential services cannot begin under blockade. Gaza, even under a so-called ceasefire, remains trapped in devastation.
