Gaza Herald – Six critically ill patients have died at Gaza City’s Al-Shifa Medical Complex after Israel blocked the entry of essential medicines and medical supplies, according to hospital director Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya. He warned that the facility has completely run out of vital drugs, making it impossible to save wounded civilians suffering from war injuries and chronic illnesses.
Dr. Abu Salmiya also reported a 35% mortality rate among premature babies due to the collapse of neonatal care and the lack of incubators, oxygen, and antibiotics.
He said doctors are working under unimaginable conditions, forced to watch patients die from preventable causes as Israel continues to weaponize medicine and aid in its genocidal campaign against Gaza.
Despite the devastation, Gaza’s medical staff remain on the frontlines, described by Abu Salmiya as “the backbone of Gaza’s resilience”, struggling to keep the health system alive amid total siege and deliberate deprivation of humanitarian access.
