Gaza Herald – UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini has called for international journalists to be granted immediate and unrestricted access to the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that global media presence is essential to “document the truth and honor the heroic sacrifice of Palestinian journalists” who have been targeted and killed during the ongoing genocide.
He said that the world must witness firsthand the scale of destruction and human suffering caused by Israel’s two-year campaign of annihilation against Gaza’s population.
Lazzarini stressed that Gaza now needs education, humanitarian relief, and justice, urging the international community to ensure that aid and rebuilding efforts reach civilians without obstruction.
“It is time for peace, through healing, justice, and mutual recognition,” he stated, calling on nations to stand against the collective punishment of Palestinians and to protect the few remaining journalists who risk their lives to report from the ruins.
He also welcomed the recent reunion of Israeli and Palestinian families under the ceasefire agreement, describing it as “a small but vital ray of hope after more than two years of total darkness.”
Lazzarini reaffirmed that the UN will continue pushing for accountability, unrestricted humanitarian access, and global media freedom inside Gaza, where truth itself has become a target.
