Gaza Herald- The Israeli military has threatened to unleash “unprecedented force” in its latest assault on Gaza City, ordering hundreds of thousands of residents to flee south.
Avichay Adraee, the army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, announced that Salah al-Din Road, once the main evacuation route, has now been closed, leaving al-Rashid Street as the only path south. He urged Palestinians to “take this opportunity” to move to what Israel calls the “humanitarian area,” even as rights groups stress that no safe zones exist under constant bombardment.
The warning underscores Israel’s escalating campaign to empty Gaza City through relentless firepower, forcing civilians into repeated displacement with no guarantee of safety or return.
Under international law, the forcible transfer of populations in conditions of war and coercion is strictly prohibited and constitutes a war crime. Human rights advocates warn that Israel’s actions in Gaza amount not only to unlawful displacement but also to ethnic cleansing, exposing the international community’s failure to uphold its duty to protect civilians.
