Israeli Offensive Wipes Out Gaza’s Zeitoun Neighborhood

Gaza Herald – Israel’s ongoing ground offensive on Gaza City has left the Zeitoun neighborhood in complete devastation, with more than 1,500 homes destroyed, according to Gaza Civil Defense officials.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the rescue service, reported that the southern part of Zeitoun has been entirely flattened, leaving no buildings intact.

The Israeli military reportedly combined heavy construction equipment with bomb-laden robots, detonating multiple sites daily, while quadcopter drones dropped explosives on residential rooftops. Basal described the destruction as “unprecedented in scale.”

The systematic demolitions have forced roughly 80 percent of Zeitoun’s residents to flee, seeking refuge in the western and northern districts of Gaza City. Thousands are now living in extremely precarious conditions, with limited access to food, shelter, and medical aid.

Humanitarian officials warn that the assault underscores the worsening crisis in Gaza, as entire neighborhoods are erased and civilians bear the heaviest toll of the ongoing military operations.
