Rights Group: Video Proves Nasser Hospital Attack Was Intentional, Not Accidental

Gaza Herald- Israeli officials, quoted in local media, claimed that the deadly back-to-back strike on Gaza’s Nasser Hospital yesterday was the result of tank fire. The attack left at least 21 people dead, among them five Palestinian journalists who had been documenting the destruction. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quickly referred to the incident as nothing more than a “tragic mishap,” suggesting it was an unintended consequence of combat operations.

That narrative, however, is now being strongly challenged. The Belgium-based Hind Rajab Foundation, a human rights and legal advocacy organization, said its own review of video evidence contradicts the Israeli account. According to the foundation’s forensic analysis, the weapon used in the attack was not tank fire but a “guided missile.” The group stressed that such munitions belong to Israel’s precision-strike arsenal, designed specifically to allow operators to visually identify or designate their target before launch.

This technical detail, the foundation argues, is crucial. It indicates that the Israeli military would have been fully aware of who and what they were targeting when the missile was fired. Among the victims were not only journalists but also medical teams and civil defense crews working on-site. For the foundation, this is proof that the strike was no accident at all but rather a deliberate “double-tap” assault—an intentional war crime carried out against first responders and members of the press.

“The Israeli military therefore, knew they were striking medics, civil defense crews, and journalists. This was a deliberate double-tap war crime, not an accident,” the Hind Rajab Foundation said in a statement.

The organization further revealed that its researchers are finalizing a comprehensive technical report that will be released soon. This report, it added, will serve as a key part of an upcoming legal filing intended to hold Israeli officials accountable under international law. By challenging Israel’s official narrative with technical evidence, the foundation aims to ensure that the deaths at Nasser Hospital are recognized not as a battlefield error but as part of a broader pattern of systematic targeting in Gaza.
