Gaza Herlad- Amid a prolonged and devastating assault on Gaza, Israeli forces have once again demanded that Palestinians evacuate key neighborhoods in Gaza City and the northern governorates. This latest directive comes as part of a continuing campaign marked by widespread displacement and destruction, now stretching over 21 months.
The Israeli military has repeatedly ordered residents to leave areas including Zeitoun al-Sharqi, the Old City, Turkman, Jadida, Daraj, Sabra, and al-Tuffah in Gaza City. In northern Gaza, neighborhoods such as Jabalia al-Balad, Jabalia al-Nazla, Jabalia Camp, al-Rawda, al-Nahda, al-Zuhur, al-Nour, al-Salam, and Tal al-Zaatar are also under evacuation orders.
Since early October 2023, Israel’s military operations have involved systematic killings, starvation tactics, and large-scale destruction, actions condemned internationally and ruled unlawful by the International Court of Justice. Despite this, the violence continues unabated.
The conflict, heavily backed by the United States, has resulted in over 197,000 Palestinian casualties, mostly women and children, with thousands missing and many more displaced. Starvation and siege conditions have worsened the humanitarian crisis, causing further deaths among the most vulnerable.
Israeli forces are directing civilians to relocate to the coastal area known as “Mawasi,” stretching from south of Deir al-Balah to just north of Khan Younis. While labeled a “humanitarian safe zone,” this area has repeatedly been bombarded, with displaced families targeted, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries.
Military officials state that their operations are intensifying with the goal of “destroying hostile groups” as fighting advances toward Gaza’s city center. Since March 18, when Israel unilaterally ended the ceasefire, dozens of evacuation warnings have been issued, each preceding further violence and displacement.
