Gaza Herald – Occupation forces compelled several Palestinian families to vacate their homes in the Abu Snina and Jabir neighborhoods of Hebron city on Thursday. The troops transformed these residential buildings into military barracks as part of intensified security measures surrounding the upcoming “Sabbat Sarah” celebrations.
Units breached the Abu Snina area in the southern sector of the city and raided a six-story residential building. Soldiers forced the occupants to leave under threat of weapons before seizing the property to establish a military site.
Kifah Abu Najma, a resident of the building, stated that troops ordered approximately 50 individuals from multiple families to abandon the structure. He noted that soldiers granted less than five minutes for residents to gather personal belongings before leaving women, children, the elderly, and patients without shelter.
In a separate incident within the Jabir neighborhood, occupation forces forcibly evacuated Majid Jabir and his family, which consists of ten members. Authorities converted their home into a military barracks following the eviction.
These actions coincide with heightened military restrictions imposed on Hebron during this period annually. The measures accompany preparations by settlers to enter the Ibrahimi Mosque and the Old City to celebrate “Sabbat Sarah,” an event drawing thousands of participants from across occupied territories for Talmudic rituals and festivities.
The conversion of Palestinian residences into troop staging areas has exacerbated civilian hardships while imposing additional constraints on daily movement. These security protocols are primarily deployed to ensure the safety of settler movements and incursions into sensitive religious sites.
