Gaza Herald – Avi Ashkenazi, a military correspondent for the Hebrew newspaper Maariv, stated that assessments within the Israeli occupation suggest Iran might try to unify fronts in the event of an attack. This strategy would involve activating its regional allies, primarily the Houthi movement in Yemen and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
According to Ashkenazi, the Houthis could intensify their attacks against Saudi Arabia and potentially launch missiles toward the occupation. Meanwhile, Hezbollah is expected to mobilize if Iran suffers damage to its energy infrastructure and vital facilities during an Israeli strike.
The reporter noted that Hezbollah is currently in a difficult position. Despite this, the occupation takes the possibility of its involvement seriously and prepares accordingly. In such a scenario, Israel plans to employ heavy firepower to counter any engagement from the Lebanese group.
Ashkenazi reported that the Seventh Armored Brigade recently completed approximately one year of continuous operations in Lebanon. The unit has rotated out for rest while maintenance work is conducted on tanks and armored vehicles. This period allows fighters to recuperate before returning to duty.
The brigade will begin training exercises on the Golan Heights in the coming days to enhance its readiness levels. Ashkenazi emphasized that the unit remains prepared to move toward Lebanon if the confrontation escalates significantly. This preparation underscores the ongoing tension along the northern border.
The correspondent highlighted that the Israeli Navy is also preparing for a central role in any potential clash with Hezbollah. This deployment assumes that the Air Force will be occupied with operations against Iran. Consequently, naval forces must be ready to support ground operations or conduct independent strikes.
Israel is reportedly planning additional attacks deep into Lebanese territory. Operations would focus on coastal cities, specifically Sidon and Tyre, as well as Nabatieh. These targets are prioritized if Hezbollah decides to join the conflict directly against Israeli forces.
Furthermore, the navy is preparing to intensify strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs. A naval blockade is also being considered for the ports of Beirut and Tripoli in northern Lebanon. These measures aim to restrict supply lines and increase pressure on key logistical hubs in the region.
