Hebron: 15 Detainees Transferred to Admin Custody

Gaza Herald – Israeli military operations in the Hebron governorate have escalated over the past week, resulting in widespread displacement, educational disruptions, and a surge in administrative detentions. According to information from prisoner institutions, approximately 15 young men arrested during recent raids have been transferred to administrative custody.

The official detention orders specifying the duration of their confinement are expected to be issued within the current week. This move follows intensified arrest campaigns accompanying the military offensive, raising concerns about prolonged detention without formal charges or public accusations against the detainees.

Security measures are heavily concentrated in the Julda and Deir Balah districts west of Hebron city. Israeli forces continue to close roads, raid homes, and restrict civilian movement. These actions have forced several families to flee their residences while others remain trapped inside their homes under siege conditions.

Data from the Hebron Municipality and the Follow-up and Support Committee indicate that hundreds of families have suffered due to the aggression. Many households, including those with children, infants, the elderly, pregnant women, patients, and persons with disabilities, were compelled to evacuate amid difficulties accessing healthcare and basic necessities.

Displaced families face severe humanitarian challenges due to shortages of temporary housing, food supplies, and medications. Restrictions on aid workers entering closed zones further complicate relief efforts. Meanwhile, two citizens were injured by Israeli forces in Dura town and Wadi Samun area.

Arrests continued during incursions into Hebron and surrounding areas. Forces raided and searched homes in Tafouh and Halhul towns. In Arqum Ali east of Yatta, soldiers arrested brothers Salah and Musa Al-Adra while they were plowing their land.

Settlers attacked civilians and vehicles in the Ras al-Joura area at the northern entrance to Hebron city. The entrance remains closed, severely limiting civilian mobility. These incidents reflect the expanding scope of military procedures across the governorate.

The educational sector has also been significantly impacted. Military closures disrupted face-to-face learning in dozens of schools, preventing thousands of students from attending classes. Educational data shows that 66 schools were directly affected during the week, impacting 2,872 students.

Many students live under siege or were forcibly displaced, making school access impossible. Teachers and administrative staff were also affected by the security measures. Affected schools shifted to remote learning, though fears persist regarding widening educational gaps if restrictions continue.

Local institutions and relief committees continue distributing food, medicine, and bedding to affected families despite access difficulties. Relief data highlights growing needs for temporary shelters and medical supplies, particularly for displaced or trapped households.

Economic activities have also suffered due to road closures and halted commercial movement. Citizens struggle to reach workplaces and essential services, causing daily losses across various sectors. The Hebron Municipality coordinates emergency responses, assesses damages, and liaises with international bodies to pressure authorities for lifting restrictions.
