Gaza Herald – A Palestinian man was killed Monday when a wall damaged by a previous Israeli strike collapsed in Khan Younis, highlighting the deadly risks posed by Gaza’s thousands of damaged and unstable structures.
Khaled Ibrahim Abdel Aal was killed when the weakened wall collapsed near Abu Hamid roundabout in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
Across the Strip, thousands of Palestinians remain exposed to unsafe buildings and structures damaged during Israel’s genocide, with many families forced to live in or near them because they have nowhere else to go.
The danger is compounded by restrictions on bringing mobile homes, construction materials and equipment needed to clear dangerous structures and rebuild destroyed homes. As reconstruction remains severely limited, damaged buildings continue to pose a direct threat to residents and displaced families.
Gaza’s Civil Defense has repeatedly warned that Palestinians living inside or near buildings at risk of collapse face danger, while its teams lack the equipment needed to safely secure or remove many of these structures.
The death comes as the destruction left by Israel’s genocide on Gaza continues to shape daily life, with Palestinians facing not only the loss of homes but also the ongoing danger posed by the ruins left behind.
