Gaza Herald – Palestinian Civil Defense crews recovered the bodies and remains of eight Palestinians on Tuesday from beneath the rubble of the Karam family home on Al-Sinaa Street in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, south of Gaza City, following prolonged search operations through collapsed concrete and debris.
Civil Defense officials said some of the recovered bodies were in advanced stages of decomposition, while others had been reduced to skeletal remains after being trapped under the rubble for an extended period.
Rescue teams are expected to resume operations on Wednesday in an effort to recover the bodies of eight additional victims who are still believed to be buried beneath the destroyed home.
Recovery efforts continue across the Gaza Strip despite severe challenges caused by widespread destruction, a shortage of heavy machinery, and limited rescue equipment needed to reach those trapped under collapsed buildings.
According to local estimates, around 15,000 victims are still believed to remain buried beneath the rubble across Gaza, as Civil Defense and medical teams struggle to access many destroyed sites.
Earlier on Tuesday, residents of Gaza City held what has been described as the largest mass funeral since the genocide began, burying the remains of 112 victims from the Abu Sharia and Al-Hassayneh families. Their bodies were recovered after weeks of excavation beneath an entire residential block destroyed by intensive Israeli bombardment on November 22, 2023.
That attack reportedly killed 308 Palestinians, including 44 children under the age of 16, 37 women, and more than 10 Palestinians with disabilities, while rescue teams were prevented from reaching the area during the initial aftermath of the strike.
