Gaza Herald – Two more senior Gaza security officials were killed on Sunday after an Israeli airstrike targeted their vehicle in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, according to the Gaza Interior Ministry, as Israeli attacks continued across the enclave.
The ministry said Colonel Wael al-Ladawi, head of the Internal Security Service in central Gaza, and officer Ramez Abu Zuraiq were killed when their vehicle was struck in Deir al-Balah. The ministry accused Israel of deliberately targeting members of Gaza’s civilian security institutions.
The latest strike comes a day after Brigadier General Abdel-Nasser al-Maqadma, northern Gaza’s police chief and governor of North Gaza, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City. Gaza’s Interior Ministry says at least 55 police commanders, officers, and security personnel have now been killed in direct Israeli attacks since the ceasefire agreement took effect in October 2025.
According to the ministry, Israeli strikes have repeatedly targeted police headquarters, patrols, vehicles, and senior officers, stressing that the campaign is an effort to dismantle Gaza’s civilian policing and public security system. The ministry reiterated that police and internal security personnel are protected under international law and called on international mediators and the guarantors of the ceasefire agreement to intervene.
Israeli strikes continued elsewhere across Gaza over the weekend, with attacks reported in Deir al-Balah, Nuseirat, and Khan Younis, where several Palestinians were killed or wounded, according to medical sources and local authorities.
According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, more than 1,180 Palestinians have been killed since the October 2025 ceasefire came into effect, while Gaza authorities say attacks on civilian institutions continue despite the truce.
