Gaza Herald – Israeli naval forces detained a Palestinian fisherman on Wednesday while he was fishing off the coast of Gaza City, in the latest reported violation of the October 2025 ceasefire.
According to local sources, Israeli gunboats surrounded the fisherman’s small boat and forced him to stop before detaining him and taking him to an unknown location.
The detention comes amid continued Israeli restrictions and attacks targeting Gaza’s fishing sector despite the ceasefire agreement that took effect on October 11, 2025.
According to the Gaza Fishermen’s Syndicate, Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023 have killed approximately 232 Palestinian fishermen while they were attempting to earn a living at sea. More than 130 others have been injured by direct Israeli gunfire and attacks.
The syndicate also reports that around 120 fishermen have been detained at sea since the beginning of the genocide, with approximately 60 still being held in Israeli detention.
