Gaza Herald – Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem said Israeli allegations that Hamas members had violated the ceasefire agreement were baseless and lacked any factual foundation. He said the claims were intended to provide justification for continued Israeli violations of the agreement and an escalation of military attacks on the Gaza Strip.
In a press statement, Qasem said Hamas remained fully committed to the terms of the ceasefire, while accusing Israeli forces of repeatedly breaching the agreement. He said accusations of Hamas non-compliance were unfounded and were being used to justify further attacks.
Qasem also accused Israel of attempting to shift responsibility for the violence and portray itself as the victim while continuing military operations that endanger Palestinian civilians. He said these claims did not reflect the reality on the ground and were meant to shape international perceptions of the ceasefire.
Hamas said it had adhered to the agreed terms since the truce took effect and argued that recent incidents resulting in casualties were caused by Israeli actions rather than violations by the movement. It accused Israel of using what it described as false pretexts to resume attacks.
Recent Israeli strikes have caused further Palestinian casualties in Gaza. A child was among those injured in an Israeli bombardment that killed three people and wounded several others across the Gaza Strip. Separately, the collapse of a building in Gaza City housing internally displaced Palestinians killed 21 people, while dozens were reported missing or injured.
Hamas condemned the developments and accused Israel of disregarding Palestinian civilian lives and international law. The movement called on the international community to hold the Israeli government accountable and to intervene to prevent further bloodshed and protect civilians.
Qasem concluded by reaffirming Hamas’s willingness to cooperate with efforts to sustain the ceasefire, while warning against what he described as attempts to undermine the agreement through false accusations. He said a lasting peace required respect for Palestinian rights and sovereignty.
