Working in partnership with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the team conducted a comprehensive field assessment to determine the extent of damage inflicted on residential properties in the area.
According to a press statement released by the Ministry of Social Development on Friday, the results of the field census revealed severe consequences for local residents. The data indicates that nine families suffered complete destruction of their homes, rendering them entirely uninhabitable due to the intensity of the targeted strikes.
In addition to total demolitions, the ministry reported that twenty-four families experienced significant damage to their residences. These structural failures have made the affected houses unsuitable for human habitation, forcing the occupants to seek alternative shelter immediately. The severity of this damage underscores the critical nature of the housing shortage in the region.
Furthermore, the assessment recorded partial damages affecting the homes and personal belongings of thirty-four other families. While these structures remain standing, the extent of the harm poses ongoing risks to the safety and well-being of the inhabitants, contributing to the broader displacement crisis facing the population.
The Emergency Team confirmed that all data regarding the affected families was documented on-site and entered into an emergency response program. This information was also integrated into a comprehensive electronic database to facilitate tracking and future aid distribution efforts for those impacted by the violence.
Highlighting the dire situation, the ministry warned of a catastrophic escalation in the shelter crisis across the sector. The lack of alternative housing units and the absence of tents for displaced families are pushing hundreds of individuals toward homelessness or overcrowding in already damaged shelters, exacerbating humanitarian suffering.
Calling for immediate action, the ministry urged the international community and humanitarian institutions to intervene urgently. It emphasized the need to provide essential shelter materials and emergency alternatives to save families who have been left without any form of safe housing following the recent waves of attacks.
