Gaza Herald – Thousands of Palestinians in Gaza were set to lose access to lifesaving medical care after Israel announced the suspension of Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) and at least 25 other international humanitarian organizations starting with the new year.
Israeli authorities claimed the decision was based on new registration rules requiring detailed disclosures about staff, funding, and activities, and accused MSF of failing to clarify the roles of some employees, allegations the organization rejected as politically motivated and dangerous.
Doctors Without Borders, one of the largest medical providers in Gaza, had treated nearly half a million people, delivered emergency care to the wounded, and supplied critical water and health services amid the near-total collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system.
In a statement, the organization warned that Gaza’s humanitarian response was already strangled and could not survive further dismantling, stressing that blocking independent medical groups would push civilians deeper into catastrophe.
The move came as Israeli occupation forces continued violating the ceasefire through air and artillery attacks, while Gaza’s population faced mass displacement, winter storms, and severe shortages, leaving patients, the wounded, and the sick trapped without care as international aid was deliberately shut out.
