Gaza Herald – The Hamas Movement denied Israeli claims that the movement informed U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff that the ceasefire had ended, calling the allegations fabricated excuses meant to justify Israel’s return to its genocidal war on Gaza.
Senior Hamas official Izzat al-Rishq said the movement had instead urged American officials and mediators to pressure Israel to reveal the identity of the armed individual Tel Aviv claims Hamas sent, a claim the Movement said is baseless.
The Israeli prime minister’s office alleged that Hamas “breached the ceasefire” by sending a fighter into an area controlled by Israeli forces and claimed that Israel “killed five senior Hamas officials” in response. Hamas called these statements manufactured pretexts to escape commitments under the ceasefire agreement.
The Movement stressed that the only party violating the agreement is Israel, which continues to break the ceasefire daily and systematically through airstrikes, artillery fire, drone attacks, and demolition operations. The movement called on mediators, including the U.S., to act immediately to stop Israel’s violations and enforce the agreement as written.
