Gaza Herald- In a devastating three-day offensive on the Zeitoun district, one of Gaza City’s largest neighbourhoods, Israeli forces have demolished more than 300 homes and killed the families who lived in them.
According to Gaza’s Civil Defence, many victims were killed without warning, their houses obliterated by massive bombs that also flattened neighbouring structures. The sheer force of the explosions left no time for escape, wiping out entire bloodlines in seconds.
Rescue workers reported being repeatedly blocked from reaching survivors or retrieving the bodies of the dead, leaving many trapped beneath the rubble. The assault on Zeitoun began on Tuesday and has continued without pause, reducing large swathes of the area to ruins.
This offensive is part of Israel’s wider strategy to seize control of Gaza City and forcibly displace nearly a million residents toward the south, actions that legal experts and humanitarian organisations say constitute grave violations of international law.
The destruction of Zeitoun stands as yet another harrowing chapter in Gaza’s ongoing tragedy, a calculated campaign not only to seize land but to erase communities, histories, and lives in their entirety. With international outrage mounting, the assault underscores the urgent need for accountability and for the world to intervene before Gaza’s cities are emptied, its families erased, and its future stolen.
