Gaza Herald — The Government Media Office in Gaza has accused the Israeli occupation of deliberately intensifying the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip, following the deaths of 20 civilians and injuries to dozens more after a humanitarian aid truck overturned in the central region overnight.
According to the statement, the truck was transporting essential food supplies when it was forced to navigate unsafe, densely crowded routes. The chaos led to a stampede and the eventual overturning of the vehicle, crushing civilians who had been waiting for days in hopes of receiving basic sustenance.
“This was not a tragic accident. It is part of a calculated policy by the Israeli occupation to manufacture chaos and starvation,” the statement declared. “What we are witnessing is the systematic weaponization of hunger, targeting over 2.4 million besieged Palestinians.”
Despite limited recent permission for aid trucks to enter Gaza, the Media Office says Israel continues to obstruct the safe distribution of aid. Drivers are reportedly forced to use bombed-out, unsafe roads crowded with starving civilians, often resulting in violent confrontations and fatalities. The statement described the events as part of a broader strategy it called the “architecture of starvation and disorder.”
Over recent months, hundreds of Palestinians have been killed or wounded in similar aid-related incidents, as people are forced to risk their lives to secure food and medicine. The office pointed to last night’s tragedy as the latest result of a deliberate policy of endangerment.
The overturned truck had been redirected by Israeli forces through previously targeted zones that remain unsafe for transit. “This is not negligence. It is intentional. The occupation is knowingly pushing civilians into deadly terrain,” the statement continued.
The Government Media Office condemned these policies as acts of genocide and clear violations of international humanitarian law. It also held Israel’s allies, especially the United States, responsible for enabling the ongoing blockade and deepening crisis through political and military support.
It called on the international community, the United Nations, and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene. The office demanded an immediate, unconditional opening of all border crossings, the free flow of humanitarian aid, and protection for civilians.
Gaza Herald emphasizes that the crisis unfolding in Gaza is not merely a humanitarian tragedy, but a test of the world’s conscience. The people of Gaza, despite enduring unprecedented suffering, continue to display resilience, unity, and dignity in the face of aggression. True peace and justice will only be possible when the siege is lifted, accountability is enforced, and the rights of the Palestinian people are fully recognized and upheld.
