Euro-Med announces exceptional measures in response to Israeli disinformation and threats, reaffirms continuation of its work

Gaza Herald – The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor announced that it has been forced to take exceptional emergency measures following an escalating Israeli campaign of disinformation, incitement, intimidation, and direct threats targeting the organization and its staff over their documentation of Israeli violations against Palestinians.

In a statement issued from Geneva, the rights organization said the campaign intensified after fabricated accusations attempted to link Euro-Med Monitor to a recent investigation published by The New York Times concerning systematic sexual violence against Palestinian detainees inside Israeli detention camps.

The organization said the growing threats have compelled it to restructure and reduce parts of its attacks, including downsizing staff, suspending activities at its Geneva headquarters, and closing offices in occupied Palestine and Lebanon. Euro-Med Monitor added that it would continue operating through virtual platforms and essential field documentation despite the mounting pressure.

Among the latest Israeli measures, the group revealed that Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs Amichai Chikli coordinated with Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority to ban nearly 40 members and affiliates of the organization from entering Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories. Those targeted include founder and chairman Ramy Abdu, senior officials, board members, and staff.

Euro-Med Monitor said that the move as part of a broader Israeli effort to silence independent human rights attack and obstruct attempts to expose crimes committed against the Palestinians.

According to the statement, the campaign against the organization has included manipulated public statements, fabricated allegations regarding political affiliations, widespread online incitement, and even explicit calls for the assassination of the organization’s leadership and staff members.

The organization warned that such escalation has been enabled by ongoing international silence and the failure of powerful states and institutions to hold Israel accountable for grave violations against Palestinians, including attacks on journalists, aid workers, and human rights defenders.

“What Euro-Med Monitor is facing today is part of a wider policy targeting anyone who documents Israeli crimes or approaches the truth,” the statement said, noting that Palestinian and international organizations, humanitarian agencies, and even United Nations mechanisms have increasingly faced restrictions, delegitimization efforts, and intimidation campaigns.

The group also highlighted the systematic targeting and killing of journalists in Gaza during Israel’s ongoing genocide on the Gaza Strip.

Euro-Med Monitor stated that it is urgently raising the issue before the United Nations and international legal bodies, stressing that protecting independent human rights work and safeguarding the public’s right to truth and justice are essential responsibilities.

Despite the threats, the organization affirmed that it would continue documenting violations and advocating for victims of Israeli attacks.

“Our work did not begin because conditions were safe, and it will not end because Israel has decided to increase the cost,” the statement declared. “Retreating in the face of intimidation would leave victims without a voice, crimes without documentation, and perpetrators without accountability.”

The organization concluded by warning that it continues to confront “a power that exercises force without restraint while benefiting from impunity and international indifference,” referring to Israel’s ongoing attacks against Palestinians in Gaza and across the occupied territories.
