Hamas: Israeli Threats to Resume War Violate Ceasefire, Undermine Negotiations

Gaza Herald – Hamas has stated that Israeli threats to resume military attacks in the Gaza Strip constitute a violation of the ceasefire agreement and contradict the ongoing negotiation process.

Spokesperson Hazem Qassem said in press remarks that statements circulated in Israeli media about a potential return to genocidal war represent a clear breach of the truce and run counter to the framework proposed by Donald Trump.

Qassem added that such threats run counter to what he described as a “positive atmosphere” surrounding recent meetings between Hamas and mediators in Cairo, which aimed to advance de-escalation efforts and complete agreed-upon understandings.

The movement reiterated its commitment to working with mediators to reach practical and acceptable solutions that ensure the implementation of all phases of a broader peace framework for Gaza.

In a related context, Israeli outlet “Mivzakei Ra’am” reported that despite what it described as a near-collapse of negotiations with Hamas, the Israeli military is not expected to resume war in Gaza at this stage.

Hamas had previously affirmed its readiness to enter the second phase of negotiations, contingent on Israel’s seriousness in adhering to its commitments. It noted that Palestinian factions had responded with “responsibility and flexibility” in appreciation of mediation efforts.

The movement also indicated that it had submitted a positive response to proposals under discussion, while consultations with Palestinian factions continue in Cairo, led by Khalil al-Hayya.
