Infant Dies of Cold in Khan Younis as Gaza Shelter Crisis Deepens

Gaza Herald – A Palestinian infant died on Friday after succumbing to extreme cold in southern Gaza, medical sources said, underscoring the worsening humanitarian emergency gripping the enclave.

The six-month-old baby passed away inside a displacement tent in al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, where families remain exposed to harsh winter conditions amid widespread destruction and displacement.

The death brings the number of children who have died from cold-related causes in Gaza since the start of winter to at least 11, as shortages of shelter materials, fuel, and heating supplies persist.

Aid agencies and medical officials warn that the lack of adequate housing, heating, and medical care continues to place infants and displaced families at acute risk, particularly as severe weather compounds the impact of prolonged restrictions on humanitarian assistance.
