94 Members of Gaza’s Al-Salem Family Buried Two Years After Israeli Massacre

Gaza Herald — The remains of 94 members of the Al-Salem family were recovered and buried on Thursday, two years after they were killed in an Israeli air strike that struck the Abu Ramadan family home on the night of December 18, 2023.

Local sources said the victims had been buried beneath the rubble since the attack and were only retrieved following lengthy and difficult recovery operations, carried out amid severe humanitarian conditions and limited resources.

The victims included 32 children, 12 elderly individuals, and 26 women, making the massacre one of the most lethal single-family attacks recorded during Israel’s assault on the Gaza Strip.

The strike also wiped out eight families entirely from Gaza’s civil registry. Six children survived without any remaining parents or siblings, while just 23 people were reported to have lived through the attack.

The recovery of the bodies underscores the immense human cost of Israel’s military campaign, as thousands of Palestinian families continue to search for relatives still trapped under debris, amid growing demands for accountability for crimes committed against civilians.
