Gaza Herald – Two Israeli soldiers from the elite 202nd Battalion were severely wounded overnight Wednesday in a precision ambush by the Palestinian resistance in the Shujaiya neighborhood of northern Gaza, according to a statement by the Israeli military. The soldiers were reportedly struck by anti-tank weaponry, followed by direct gunfire, underscoring the growing cost of Israel’s occupation campaign in the densely populated enclave.
The soldiers were evacuated to hospital care following the attack. Palestinian resistance groups, including Hamas’ Qassam Brigades, have not claimed responsibility, maintaining a strategic silence typical of high-impact operations.
Since the launch of its full-scale war on Gaza in late 2023, the Israeli military has confirmed at least 893 soldiers killed and over 6,100 wounded. Analysts note these numbers are likely understated, as Israel often conceals real battlefield losses to maintain morale and political control.
