Gaza Herald – The Washington Post reported that the number of American military fatalities during recent confrontations with Iran exceeds the official figures released by the U.S. Department of Defense to the public.
According to a special report by the newspaper, six American officials familiar with the matter stated that U.S. forces lost at least 22 individuals from various bases in the region during clashes with Iran.
These figures contrast with official data issued by the Pentagon, which indicates that 18 American soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the confrontations with Iran.
The officials noted that the failure to include certain human losses in the official data has caused disappointment among those involved in tracking the casualties and their impact on operations.
One official clarified that not all unreported human losses are directly related to combat operations, noting that some cases involve contractors working for the U.S. military in the Middle East during the conflict.
The Pentagon’s database of military losses shows that as of Friday, 18 American soldiers had been killed since the start of hostilities with Iran, highlighting a discrepancy between internal assessments and public announcements.
