Gaza Herald – Israel is considering expelling British officials and potentially representatives from other European countries from a US-established civil-military coordination center in Kiryat Gat, according to the Financial Times.
Israeli officials have reportedly discussed removing the UK from the international support center, which was created to monitor implementation of the US-brokered Gaza ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian Resistance.
The discussions come amid growing European criticism of Israel’s policies in the occupied West Bank and its ongoing conduct in Gaza. Israeli authorities are also reportedly considering similar measures against representatives from Italy and Germany.
Israel has already expelled representatives from Spain and the Netherlands from the center. Madrid’s representatives were reportedly removed after Israel accused Spain of an obsessive anti-Israel bias.
The move highlights the widening rift between Israel and several European governments as international criticism intensifies over Israel’s treatment of Palestinians, its continued violations of the Gaza ceasefire, and its policies in the occupied West Bank.
For Palestinians in Gaza, the dispute comes as Israeli forces continue to carry out attacks despite the declared ceasefire, while humanitarian restrictions and the devastating consequences of the genocide remain deeply entrenched.
