Gaza Herald – Gaza’s fragile ceasefire came under renewed Israeli fire on Tuesday, with shelling, gunfire from tanks and naval vessels, and flares reported across the Strip. One Palestinian, Jamal Suleiman Marjan, succumbed to wounds sustained in an earlier Israeli attack, while two others were injured in Khan Younis.
Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinian areas in Hamad City north of Khan Younis and heavily targeted tents sheltering displaced families, while gunfire was also reported east of Khan Younis. Israeli naval forces fired northwest of Khan Younis and northwest of Gaza City, while artillery shelling struck areas north of Bureij refugee camp and around Wadi Gaza Bridge.
The latest attacks come after eight Palestinians were killed in Israeli violations of the ceasefire the previous day, including two who later succumbed to their wounds. Civilian areas and displacement sites have continued to bear the brunt of the attacks, despite the ceasefire agreement.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health said the Palestinian death toll since the ceasefire took effect has reached 1,288, with 4,290 injured and 813 bodies recovered from beneath the rubble.
Since October 7, 2023, the cumulative Palestinian death toll in Gaza has risen to 73,422, with 174,401 Palestinians reported injured. Many victims remain trapped beneath destroyed buildings as rescue teams continue to face severe access and equipment shortages.
The continued attacks underscore the increasingly fragile nature of the ceasefire, as Palestinians in Gaza remain exposed to Israeli shelling, gunfire and the destruction of homes and displacement shelters.
