Heavy Rains Flood Displaced Palestinians’ Tents Across Gaza, Deepening Humanitarian Crisis

Gaza Herald –Heavy rainfall flooded numerous tents sheltering displaced Palestinian families across the Gaza Strip on Saturday, worsening the suffering of thousands already living in deteriorating shelters with little protection from harsh weather conditions.

The flooding came as a low-pressure weather system brought heavy rain and falling temperatures to Gaza, leaving displaced families struggling to protect their belongings and living spaces from rising water.

A correspondent for the SAFA News Agency reported that several tents in the Gaza City port area were inundated by rainwater following intense rainfall and water accumulation.

In central Gaza, floodwaters entered tents west of Deir al-Balah, while numerous shelters housing displaced families north of the Nuseirat refugee camp were also submerged.

Heavy Rain Floods Tents in Northern Gaza

In northern Gaza, heavy rainfall flooded numerous tents in Jabalia and Beit Lahiya, adding to the hardships facing families displaced by Israel’s military offensive.

The flooding has left families living in makeshift shelters increasingly vulnerable to cold temperatures, damp conditions, and further damage to their already fragile tents.

The Gaza Strip is currently experiencing a low-pressure weather system accompanied by a cold air mass, bringing a noticeable drop in temperatures and intermittent heavy rainfall.

The weather conditions may also include thunderstorms and hail, increasing the risks for displaced families living in exposed areas.

Displaced Families Face Winter Without Adequate Shelter

The winter weather has compounded the humanitarian crisis facing displaced Palestinians, many of whom lack adequate tents, heating supplies, and essential protection from rain and cold.

Thousands of families continue to live in overcrowded and deteriorating shelters, while widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure has severely limited their access to safer accommodation.

With residential buildings and essential services still damaged by Israel’s military offensive, many displaced Palestinians have few alternatives to tents that offer little protection against severe weather.

The latest flooding highlights the growing dangers facing displaced families as winter conditions intensify across the Gaza Strip.
